Russia pounds Ukraine with largest aerial bombardment in a month hours after Trump-Zelensky meeting

Russia unleashed its largest aerial assault in a month on Ukraine just hours after President Donald Trump met President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House for fresh peace talks. Moscow’s forces launched 270 drones and 10 missiles at central Ukraine, targeting energy facilities in the Poltava region and sparking large-scale fires, officials said.

Ukraine’s energy ministry said the latest strikes caused widespread outages in the Lubny district, leaving nearly 1,500 households and 119 businesses without electricity. Officials warned that repair crews were working under difficult conditions to restore power, as repeated Russian attacks continue to threaten critical infrastructure across the region.The ministry condemned the strikes as “systematic terrorist attacks” against civilian infrastructure, noting more than 2,900 attacks on energy sites since March.
