Marvel to say goodbye to two massive heroes after Avengers, reports say

MOVIES

When it comes to the most anticipated movies of 2026 and 2027, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars lead the pack. Much like Infinity War and Endgame, these films are expected to mark the end of an era in the MCU, with major character exits likely. According to Marvel insider Alex Perez, the stories of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men will officially wrap up in Secret Wars, bringing closure to their multiverse arcs.

Both actors reprised their roles in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which became a $1.9 billion box office hit, sparking hope for more solo outings. While Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 and Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 3 now seem unlikely, fans can still look forward to at least one more appearance from both web-slingers.

Rumors also swirl about Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine joining the multiversal ensemble, especially since his X-Men co-stars—Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, and Alan Cumming—are already confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday. That makes a Wolverine return feel inevitable.

While saying goodbye to Maguire and Garfield may disappoint longtime fans, their final bows in the Multiverse Saga promise to deliver another unforgettable Marvel moment.
