Marvel surprises fans with first trailer for next MCU project (and it's insane)

Marvel fans are feeling optimistic about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after some rocky outings in Phase Five. Projects like Secret Invasion, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and The Marvels drew criticism or struggled at the box office, but recent successes such as Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four: First Steps have reignited excitement heading into Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. On Disney Plus, acclaimed series like Agatha All Along and Ironheart have performed strongly, proving the franchise still has momentum.

Now, Marvel has unveiled the bloody first trailer for Marvel Zombies, an animated spin-off from the popular What If…? episode. Rated TV-MA, the series leans heavily into graphic horror, featuring intense violence like Spider-Man decapitating hordes of zombies mid-swing and Blade Knight tearing apart a zombified Ghost. The trailer also teases Wanda Maximoff’s role as “queen of the zombies,” with Okoye at her side, while heroes like Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, and Blade Knight step up to battle the undead versions of former Avengers. Elizabeth Olsen is set to reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff, lending her voice to the animated series and bringing extra weight to the story.

Marvel Zombies premieres on Disney Plus on September 24, 2025, promising one of Marvel’s goriest and most daring projects yet.
