Another person has died in connection to Harlem’s Legionnaires’ disease outbreak, raising the death toll to six since the first cases were reported on July 25. City health officials say there have been 111 confirmed cases so far, with seven people still hospitalized. Health officials traced the outbreak to 12 contaminated cooling towers across 10 buildings, including Harlem Hospital and a CUNY facility, all of which have since been drained and disinfected. Meanwhile, lawsuits are being filed against NYC Health and Hospitals and local construction companies, alleging negligence. Community meetings have drawn residents seeking answers and guidance.
