Acclaimed filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming action-thriller One Battle After Another is already earning glowing early reactions, with none other than Steven Spielberg praising the film’s bold vision. Speaking during a Q&A at the Director’s Guild of America Theatre, the Jaws director described Anderson’s latest work as “really incredible” and unlike anything he has seen before.
Spielberg highlighted the film’s energy and intensity, noting:
“What an insane movie. The first hour alone has more action than every other film you’ve made combined. It’s bizarre yet deeply relevant, and perhaps even more meaningful today than when you first wrote the screenplay.”
He compared Anderson’s approach to Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove, saying the movie mixes absurdist comedy with sharp social commentary. “It’s so close to reality that you either laugh or you scream. I found myself laughing the whole way through—but always at the moments where the film allowed it, before cutting the humor with something serious,” the legendary director added.

Film critics have also hailed Anderson’s film as a standout of the year.
