Senator Cory Booker, the senior Democratic senator from New Jersey, has announced his engagement to Alexis Lewis. The announcement was met with excitement, but also drew social media attention for Lewis’s resemblance to Booker’s ex, actress Rosario Dawson.
Lewis has a strong academic and professional background. She graduated from Sidwell Friends School, earned a marketing degree from New York University, and later completed an MBA in Hospitality and Real Estate Development at Cornell University. She is currently the Senior Vice President of Investments at Brasa Capital Management, where she plays a key role in shaping the firm’s real estate investment strategies. Previously, she worked for the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, where she focused on revitalizing South Los Angeles.
In May 2024, a mutual friend introduced Booker and Lewis on a blind date, sparking a connection that soon grew into a lasting relationship. They quickly grew close, moved in together in Washington, D.C., and began sharing their relationship publicly this summer. Booker has spoken fondly of their bond, even recalling how Lewis laughed after finding his TikTok feed filled with food and animal clips.
In August, during the Senate’s recess, Booker proposed with a surprise beachside moment in Hawaii. Photos showed the senator on one knee, both wearing leis, as Lewis displayed her new ring.
